Marciano

A 15 track alternative rap/hip-hop album (58m 27s) — released May 10th 2010 on Fat Beats

"My palm holds the arm that flips your hummer/That leaves you six feet under/Niggas should feel my hunger". A brazen Roc Marciano states "Niggas today are all rhyming the same. I come from a place where biting is still not allowed. My sound is without rules! My formula is NO formula! You have to be an original. A one of one!" Proper underground, NYC hip hop. Raw, stripped beats give Marciano's lyrics a chance to shine. With his Fat Beats Records / solo debut and collaborating with some of the new producers in the game (Marco Polo, DJ Babu and The P Brothers) Roc plans to show the world his raw lyricism and production savvy. "I just remember sitting next to the radio trying to tape Marley Marl's Rap attack" adds Roc. "It was all about Rakim, EPMD, Big Daddy Kane, Granddaddy I.U all of that. Back then whoever was the nicest on the mic had to get dealt with. You couldn't just be talking about anything on the mic. That was millions of blunts ago. I wanna bring a little of that feeling back." With songs like 'Snow' and 'Thug's Prayer' he is well on the road to doing just that. Before, the question was are UN Or U Out, but now it's MARCBERG SEASON. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!! Background: Following a meeting with Busta Rhymes, Roc Marciano found himself signed to Flipmode Records in 1999. After appearing on classic hits like 'The Heist' on Busta's multi-platinum album 'Anarchy', multiple songs with the Flipmode Squad and numerous appearances on some of hip-hop's most coveted producers' (Easy Mo Bee, The Beatminerz, The Violator compilation) album's and gracing the Summer Jam stage as a Flipmode member, Roc found himself in limbo without a solo deal. His raw demos soon caught the attention of Matty C (Notorious BIG, Big Pun) and Scott Free (Wu-Tang Clan) and signed the group to a deal with Jon Rifkin's (Loud Records) and Carson Daly's 456 Entertainment imprint. The group garnered buzz within the underground hip-hop community after a standout performance on legendary producer Pete Rock's critically acclaimed album 'PeteStrumentals' (2001). Word spread fast of Roc's lyrical prowess and the act gained notoriety throughout the hip-hop industry as respected producers such as Large Professor, Q-Tip and The Alchemist lined up to work with the buzz heavy MC's. After a short tour in the UK with Pete Rock, the group dropped 'UN Or U Out', which some taste makers in the industry deem as a classic. This album allowed Roc to not only show his skills as an MC but also his talents as a producer (Golden Grail; Mind Blowin).
